Glasgow Tower is the only structure on earth capable of rotating 360 degrees into the prevailing wind and holds the Guinness-World-Record for the tallest fully rotating freestanding structure in the World. At 127 metres high, the equivalent of over 30 double-decker buses, the Glasgow Tower is the tallest freestanding building in Scotland.

The Glasgow Tower experience starts from its base, where you can learn about the history of Glasgow and the site on which the Tower is built. Using archive images, you will walk through a timeline tunnel that highlights key events in the city over the past 100 years before reaching a five-metre long map of the Clyde which boasts historic images and footage of how the local area has changed over the years. Glasgow Tower pushes the boundaries of engineering and our staff will be on hand to give you an insight into the complex design and science behind the revolutionary structure.
Take the 2.5 minute journey to the Tower cabin where you can enjoy unrivalled panoramic views of the city, the Clyde and the landscapes beyond. You will be able to explore a virtual panoramic view on iPads using new GAR (Geo-located Augmented Reality) technology to see all 360° around the viewing platform and zoom into over a dozen places of interest, accessing contemporary and archive images, whilst keeping your feet firmly in the viewing cabin.
In the unlikely event of evacuation of the Tower cabin, the descent is via a 523 step spiral staircase. If you are not sure you or those you are responsible for can manage this in comfort and safety please speak to our staff before visiting.

Glasgow Tower is designed to move in the wind. Many visitors find the swaying sensation in windy weather unnerving. Consequently the Tower closes when the wind speed exceeds gusts of 25 mph at cabin height.
