Glasgow Science Centre wins prestigious climate award
Last week, Glasgow Science Centre won the Climate Action Award at the Scottish Thistle Awards National Finals.
The prestigious award, which was sponsored by LNER, celebrated a business, event or destination that had made demonstrable progress on their climate action journey to Net Zero.
The judges praised the Science Centre for the extensive range of measures we have taken to reduce carbon emissions, working closely with staff, customers, and the wider community.
This also included our excellent application and natural strengths in science communications to different audiences, as well as the investments the Science Centre has made in making our Clyde-side building more eco-efficient and our commitment to providing nature-based solutions in our wetlands.
At the awards, which were held in Glasgow last Thursday (21st November), Glasgow Science Centre was also nominated for Best Visitor Attraction, having previously won the West of Scotland regional award.
Commenting after the awards, Glasgow Science Centre’s Chief Executive Officer Stephen Breslin said:
"It's a real honour to be recognised for the effort and commitment we are putting into our ongoing sustainability journey. Our team have worked exceptionally hard to not only use our unique position to help inform and educate our visitors about climate change and empower them to be advocates for action, but to look at how we adapt our own business practices and engage with partners to improve our local environment.”
