Partners Welcome New Endodontics Legacy Exhibit

Visitors Get To The Root Of Teeth Anatomy In New Endodontics Exhibit

Visitors at Glasgow Science Centre will now be able to get their teeth into a new “hands-on” Endodontics exhibit, designed in collaboration with the British Endodontic Society and the University of Glasgow Dental School.

Launched in September, the exhibit, 'At the Root of It', will teach visitors about the anatomy of teeth and the fundamental role of oral biofilms in oral disease and the treatment of endodontic disease. 

Situated within an immersive research capsule, users will be able to engage with a wide range of the exhibit’s features, including a dentist simulator, giant tooth model and interactive touchscreen.

Created to coincide with the 14th World Endodontic Congress, which is being held at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow this month, the permanent exhibit at Glasgow Science Centre will serve as a legacy of the Congress in the city. 

The exhibit can be found within the Bodyworks gallery on the third floor in Glasgow Science Centre.

Commenting, Professor William McLean, President of the British Endodontic Society and Professor of Endodontology at the University of Glasgow Dental School said:

“The new exhibit at the Glasgow Science Centre, 'At the root of it', will allow visitors to explore the science behind root canal disease and its impact on oral and systemic health. As a part of the interactive experience, visitors will also delve into how dental professionals support oral health maintenance, or a return to health if disease occurs. The exhibit will look at fundamental biology, innovations in materials and clinical practice, and how scientists, dental care professionals and dentists are constantly innovating to enhance the delivery of care and patient outcomes.

“I am honoured to be part of the team from the University of Glasgow Dental School who are working with the BES in collaboration with the dedicated team at the Glasgow Science Centre to deliver this exhibit. Many elements of the exhibit are representative of the great work being carried out at the University of Glasgow Dental School, an organisation which has made significant strides in contributing to our understanding of oral disease and improving the oral health of the nation. I am very proud of what we do and showcasing the work that is going on here in Glasgow, to the people of Glasgow and further afield is exciting.

“The exhibit will open whilst the British Endodontic Society (BES) is hosting the IFEA World Endodontic Congress (WEC). The installation of the exhibit aligns with the core objectives of the BES; to promote and advance endodontology to ensure that the oral and general health of the nation is both maintained and improved.”

“At Glasgow Science Centre we really value the ground-breaking work we do with our partners and funders, and the ‘At the Root of It’ exhibit is another way we are building upon our relationship with the University of Glasgow, who we signed a memorandum of understanding with earlier this year.
