Earth Allies
Earth Allies is an activism course which aims to equip young people, particularly those from underserved communities, with the tools to be advocates for climate action. The programme empowers young people to raise awareness of the issues, mobilise others, and effectively campaign for change.
Over the twelve sessions, participants build their knowledge of the key issues while learning essential skills for activism: public speaking, online campaigning, and filmmaking.
To translate the learning into practice, participants are set three challenges in which they present publicly to receive peer feedback and hone their activist credentials. This course is aimed at young people who are new to activism but are motivated to develop their skills and make a difference.

This has been the best and longest climate change course I’ve done. I want to continue to raise awareness. For example I repost information on my social media and I want to ask teachers to have more learning about climate change.

Before I did the course, I really didn’t want to go. Now I’ve done this work with you guys I definitely think I have learned a lot from you. I learned a lot of life skills like video editing and public speaking.

From the very first week all our students were engaged, and excited to learn about a range of subjects. They were challenged to learn about new topics, and in particular find out they can influence climate action. Overall, Earth Allies was a wonderful experience from start to finish. This has built memories for the class which will last a lifetime

Earth Allies Tower
Funded by the Scottish Power Foundation, we are proud to launch our latest exhibit, the Earth Allies Tower. Beautifully crafted by the science centre design team, the tower perfectly illustrates the pressing climate issues most important to our young participants who participated in our 12-week Earth Allies courses held throughout 2023. During the discussion-based sessions, the young Earth Allies students grew in confidence and awareness as their understanding of climate issues deepened.
As the weeks progressed, it became clear the exhibit's focus would highlight the issues that our young people were most passionate about. Consequently, our dedicated team has meticulously curated an immersive experience that delves into pivotal themes such as:
- activism and social media
- the impact of vaping
- plastic and packaging consumption
- disability activism
- the proliferation of misinformation regarding climate change
I had so much fun doing the campaign posters and learning more about climate activism. It was hard at first, but I feel like I know so much more now

What an amazing project. We have been so lucky to be a part of Earth Allies. The staff were excellent with our students. Understanding and patient while providing engaging activities to support them in learning about sustainability. It gave us all a better understanding and respect for our planet with lots of things to think about in relation to helping the cause and to show us that we can all be a part of the solution.
