Having completed my degree in Anatomy at The University of Glasgow and deciding that working in a lab was not going to suit me, I began working for a company based in Edinburgh that designed and installed children’s playgrounds. Working alongside designers and installation contractors, I started to get a taste for project management, and I enjoyed the sense of satisfaction I got from delivering inclusive, fun, and engaging outdoor spaces for children and young adults.

In 2010, I was keen to move back to Glasgow, and an exciting opportunity arose as Exhibition Coordinator at GSC, working with the team to deliver the innovative ‘Bodyworks’ exhibition. With its ambition to engage visitors with health and wellbeing in the 21st century, this role aligned perfectly with my background in biological sciences and project management- I couldn’t believe such a well-suited job existed for my skills and experience!

Following completion of Bodyworks, which continues to be one of the most popular exhibitions at GSC, I decided to further my project management career by gaining a professional qualification. In 2014, I completed the Project Management Institute: Project Management Professional qualification, which then led to my promotion to Exhibition & Project Manager at GSC.

Over the subsequent years, I have managed a wide variety of projects, both within GSC and for external partners, as part of our Experience Design Service; from building refurbishment projects, to exhibitions including Powering the Future, Idea No59, the Scottish Seabird Centre, the Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium, the School of Health & Wellbeing at The University of Glasgow, and the Applied Shipbuilding Academy at BAE Systems, to name a few!
