The Roots Project

About the Roots Project

Our community team partnered with GALLANT to develop a programme of free STEM engagement for families across Glasgow. If you're a community group based in Govan, Anderston or Govanhill and you'd like to be a part of our next Roots project please get in touch. The programme consists of 6 sessions:

Session 1 – The Journey Starts Here

Who are we and who are you? Let’s have some fun finding out We will discuss the projects and what’s coming up each week.

Session 2 – Oh the Places You’ll Go!

Let’s get outdoors and learn more about active travel, how to use maps and compasses all whilst looking at the beautiful animals and plants we find on the way.

Session 3 – Down By The River Clyde!

We will learn about the river, its history and its impact on the city. We will find out how climate change is impacting Glasgow and increasing flood risk.

Session 4 – Me, You & The Planet

We’ll look at sustainable energy, what is net 0 and how will we get there? We’ll act as engineers and tackle some hands-on engineering activities.

Session 5 – Dear Green City, Where Have You Gone?

We’ll take a closer look at our city and learn why green spaces and derelict land are important in our journey to improve our environment.

Session 6 – Bee Happy

We’ll look at some of the wonderful creatures that share our urban environment and learn all about pollinators.
